In trying to overcome self doubt, write a book, start a business, get a better job, and start just about anything, if you haven’t achieved it on the first day, relax, it is after all, only day 1!
Think about it another way. If you are trying to lose weight, let’s say 20kgs, often, (as an ex personal trainer), clients would want to lose 5 kg in the first day. Then, when they haven’t lost the 5kg in one day, they decide it wasn’t working, they have never been able to lose weight, and it was probably a stupid goal anyway.
Here’s the thing, when you are trying to change a pattern or a habit, try something different or learn something new, you need to keep taking action, even when you aren’t getting the results. You need to believe in the outcome when all the evidence is against you. When you haven’t lost the 5kg on the first day, even though you have been eating correctly.
Here’s how you lose weight, by making better decisions at every meal, as in, make more healthy choices than not, watch your portion sizes, and you keep taking that same action every day. That’s where the magic is at (ps it’s not magic).
That’s the secret to overcoming self doubt, writing a book, starting a business, basically doing anything different, keep taking action toward your goal every day, and when you aren’t getting results, keep going as though you already have the outcome you want, it will happen when you trust the process.
Break it down into bite size meals, (take real actionable steps everyday), and you will get the results. Hang in there, it is after all, only day 1!
