Lost Meaning in Your Thing?

Have you lost meaning in your thing?

Do you give everything to your job, the thing that gives you a sense of purpose, leaving little room for much else in your life?

I have given everything to my job in the past, and for me at least, it wasn’t successful in my eyes (everyone’s definition of success is different, so I actually have been successful, but not in the ways I wanted).

So when you put everything into it, and then for whatever reason, you lose meaning, or lose a sense of purpose in what you are doing, what do you do?

For some it might be looking for a new job, something to reignite the passion you once had for your current job, maybe it’s a new job in the same organization, or it might be time to look elsewhere, maybe it’s a completely different job, your own business, or maybe you decide it’s time to follow your dreams, and go and build an orphanage in Nepal.

Whatever you do, before making any big decisions, I encourage you to remind yourself of the things you have enjoyed in your life, and ask yourself if you are still doing them. The catch ups with family and friends, the reading or writing, painting, singing, playing, sculpting, running, riding, surfing, etc.

Often we lose meaning, not in our job or thing we are doing, rather we lose meaning in our own life.

Find meaning in the little things you do in your life, and you may decide that the job or thing you have is perfectly fine, you simply needed to get everything else back on track.
